Three days later we did it all again and this time Tooting came out on top. Fairly and squarely it should have ended 2-1 to The Terrors, but The Ref compounded his diabolical display by allowing a third goal after Harwood had clearly been impeded as he kicked the ball, (Since the 6 second rule you are no longer allowed to obstruct the keeper when he tries to kick it). We took the lead on 20mins when Bartley brought down a Drewitt flick on and smashed it into the corner of the net with his left foot. That was the highlight of Bromley’s game, from then on Tooting dominated the game and finally drew level from a set piece on 43mins when Frankum headed home. Harwood had made a couple of fine saves and continued to keep us in the game in the second half, Harris and Frost were also in awesome form. We basically defended for the whole second 45 and held out until with 5mins left Kane sent in an unstoppable drive from the edge of the box. Then came the joke goal, Harwood’s clearance was blocked by Onochie and he squared the ball to Webb who took the easy tap in, and that was it. Bromley battled hard, but were not good enough on the night. We always seem to blow it when there’s a great draw for the next round and it was Tooting off to Mangotsfield.
