CORINTHIAN-CASUALS 1 BROMLEY 1 – LEAGUE 05/02/05

On a chilly afternoon in Tolworth Bromley’s well paid team scrapped out a draw with their amateur opponents in a pretty gritty but unspectacular encounter.

Bromley started playing 4-4-2 fielding new loan striker Fraser Logan up front with Amoako and switching Okafor to right back in order to accommodate Luckett on the left. Carroll had an early impact when he crunched Casuals star man Malik, who had to be taken off. Casuals had the first chance, but Bromley had most of the possession without creating many real chances. Carroll had a shot cleared from a corner before, with only their second shot of the game, Casuals took the lead on 32 mins. Tommy Cass smashed in a shot from 25 yards giving Walker no chance. With only a minute left in the half Bromley equalised thanks to a smart move from a short corner. Drewett received the ball from Luckett and his whipped cross was headed home powerfully by Amoako. In first half injury time Walker made a great save to keep the scores level at the break.

The second half started brightly. Amoako headed just wide from a Carroll cross and we had a fair share of the possession, which sometimes we wasted by over playing. Walker made a couple of good saves when Casuals broke, but we had a good spell of pressure. Okafor was inexplicably booked for diving after beating two defenders for pace and being brought down and we also had a good shout for handball, but the officials were in no mood to do us favours. The game eventually petered out into a draw and the main talking point of the latter stages was Luckett and Potterill squaring up to each other and having to be separated by Carroll. Somehow this sums up Bromley at the moment. No doubt we’ll be back here next season.
