BROMLEY 3 TILBURY 2 – FRIENDLY 05/08/03

This rescheduled game started brightly and turned out to be a very competitive match which saw Bromley have the best of the first half before letting Tilbury back in things late on, but we really should have won more comfortably.

After only 1 min Reid broke down the right and crossed for Goodwin to head the ball into the roof of the net. Reid went close with a fierce drive before on 13 mins Chris Wolf scored for Tilbury with a soft effort, which saw Hunt wrong footed. New boy Paul Kember impressed in midfield with some very hard tackling, as did Mike Azzopardi down the right. The hard running all-action Reid put Bromley back in front on 29 mins with a well struck effort from 10 yards and only a minute later he ran through and chipped the keeper from outside the box for 3-1. The game got very lively and inevitably spilled over into a fight just before the break, but no one was ordered off and the break came at the right time to cool things down.

Another new player Nolan showed some nice touches down the left and Tom Beech also came on up front. Luckett was denied by a great save from Baker and the improving Goodwin went close before sub Keeper Harwood made a great save from a free kick and then saw the rebound blasted over from close range. As Macca made mass substitutions Tilbury came back into the game and with the defence looking a bit flat footed, a good low cross from the right was turned in by Stevens for 3-2. The game fell away from that point and the lead never looked in danger, the late entertainment was provided by Tilbury centre back Danny Wolf with his industrious style and he played up to the crowd.
