BROMLEY 1 WINDSOR & ETON 1 – FRIENDLY 05/08/04
Less than 100 people showed up 2 days after the Palace game for a very competitive and physical friendly against Premier Division Windsor. Bromley wearing green and white were the better team for much of the game, but yet again failed to take the chances we created and only came away with a draw Andy Walker made a great save from a Chuck Martini penalty after fouling another former Raven Tony Reid on 7 mins. Only 4 mins later Watson put the Ravens in front when he headed in a Bennetts cross. The tackles were flying in from the Royalists and the Ref's patience was tested on more than one occasion. Paul Vines received an elbow to the face from Tilbury. Bennetts had two great chances to put us further in front but put them wide and Frost had a header cleared off the line, before on 41 mins Taywo lost possession on the edge of the Windsor box and within seconds the score was 1-1 as Peter Holsgrove headed home a cross from the right. The teams went in level with Bromley fans getting that same old feeling again.
The second half started with Walker making another great save, but it was all marred by a worrying injury to Mark Willy sustained challenging for a 50/50 ball. Our club captain was stretchered off and looked to be in agony. Arkwright came on to partner the impressive Dean Frost at centre back from then on Macca started to make loads of changes and it all got a bit messy. Walker made another good save, but went off with a knock himself soon after. Late on Paul Kember sent over a great cross for Watson, but he turned the ball just over the bar. A good performance, but injuries and poor finishing out weighed the positives.
