PRE-SEASON 2004
BROMLEY 1 ERITH & BELVEDERE 2 – FRIENDLY 07/08/04
Another sub 100 crowd turned up in the blazing heat to see Bromley field two different sides in either half and four players make their first appearances of the pre-season campaign only a week before the league starts.
Understandably the game was pedestrian due to the intense heat and there was little of note until on 6 mins Fenton scored an absolute beauty from 30 yards out for the visitors giving Hunter no chance. The impressive Chris Hill hit the post, but we didn’t really create any chances apart from that. On 44 mins an Erith corner saw their second goal when Hunter was caught flat footed and Tozer headed in unmarked.
Virtually the whole team changed at the break and in the second half Bromley looked stronger. Watson and Murdoch went close and Bennetts looked promising down the left. He was fouled for a free kick that led to Bromley’s goal, when Taywo crossed for Watson to head home on 59 mins. Ebanks played well at left back for an hour and Taywo was impressive especially from dead balls. Erith’s No.16 was ordered off after a late foul on Vines and the Dere’s certainly put it about as they got more frustrated by the Ravens slick passing. Sadly there was no more end product though and despite plenty of pressure we came off at the end 1-2 losers.
