Only just, but we did it! The game that meant more than most due to the FA Cup exit and all that went on with it, saw us come away with a vital three points. The first half was an evenly fought tough battle with very few clear chances. The main talking point came on 12 mins when Myatt and Algheri were both sent off after clashing in midfield. Algheri threw himself on the floor and Myatt protested his innocence, but the Ref talked to his linesman and showed them both red cards. Debutant Ball had the best opportunity to score for the Ravens, but his shot was hit straight at Gray from 6 yards. Later in the half the Tanner's keeper went down with what looked like a hamstring injury and with no sub custodian on the bench had to carry on limping for the rest of the game.
The second half was even as well, with Bromley sometimes overplaying in the midfield and giving the ball away. Martini was steady in goal and the other debutant Julius grew into his role at right back and got stuck in. Martini was verbally abused by a Tanners fan to such an extent that the fan was thrown out! After Ball and Drewett had both blasted chances wide it finally fell to Watts to grab the vital goal on 78 mins. Julius got to a loose ball and sent his cross over which eventually fell to Kirk who hit the post with his shot and then ran in to head home the rebound. Needless to say we went mad! The final few minutes were nervy and we nearly blew it when, Met. Police style, we lost possession from our own corner, but Chuck came to the rescue and we held on to win.
