WINDSOR & ETON 1 BROMLEY 0 – LEAGUE 09/09/03

A 24th minute deflected free kick from Dave Carroll was enough to give Windsor all three points at Stag Meadow and condemn Bromley to another defeat. The players gave their all, but nothing seemed to work and we were never going to score however long we played.

The game started evenly but the Ravens approach play broke down once it got to the edge of the Royalists box and was easily dealt with by a robust back four. Danny Harwood had a great game making several saves and had no chance with the only goal as the deflection left him wrong footed. Nolan looked much brighter and Amoako, McKoy and Reid were tireless. Windsor looked a strong side.

The second half carried on in the same vein and too many passes went astray or moves broke down. Briefly Bromley rallied in the last 15 mins pushing forward, with Amoako going closest to testing ex-Raven Chuck Martini in goal when they collided and the ball ran just wide. Windsor became very physical and Tony Reid had to go off injured after being cut down in the area. Ex-Wycombe psycho Jason Cousins dished out plenty of nasty challenges, which went unpunished. Huggins, George and Godwin were all thrown on, but no real chances were created and the home side were never troubled.

Quote for the game: ‘At least when we had Kirk Watts we had false hope!’
