BROMLEY 0 SLOUGH TOWN 4 – LEAGUE 10/02/04

A potentially disastrous result for Bromley’s quest for the top six as yet again we failed to perform at home on a Tuesday night, when the opportunity to move into the all important zone was in front of us.

Slough dominated the entire 90 mins and could easily have had 8, but for Bromley’s defence riding their luck. Danny Harwood failed to hold on to anything and from the off it was obvious that the whole Bromley team was far too nervous and jittery. It was a surprise that it took 35 mins for Slough to break the deadlock. It eventually came on the break when Boot fired home. 1-0 at half time. It was hoped Macca might get the side into shape during the break but Slough shut Bromley down and were first to every ball. Only Amoako deserved any credit and at times in the second half he was so isolated up front it was beyond a joke. The Rebels sealed their win on 47 mins when Hodges finished off a low cross from the right catching Bromley flat footed. Falana and Harney were subbed, but there were other players who deserved to be brought off much more then they did. The long balls punted up now had no one to challenge for them! Slough scrambled a third on 54 mins and had a goal disallowed before Harwood capped his night on 80 mins when he was sent off for bringing down their forward in the box. Paul Vines went in goal, but got nowhere near the Boot penalty and it was 4-0. Vines did ok for the last 10 mins, but the game was over and Slough just eased back and showed some mercy. Bromley had played far too deep for the whole game and Slough had been hungry and pressed Bromley into countless silly mistakes and misplaced passes. The midfield just didn’t exist. Slough just worked very hard and deserved to win. We were faced with a game in 10 days time with no keeper available!

Quote for the game: ‘Can we concede the game like they do in snooker?’

Team: Harwood, Potterill, Harney, Luckett, Wilfort, Willy, Hammond, Myatt, Amoako, Falana, McKoy.
