BARKING & EAST HAM UTD 2 BROMLEY 2 – LEAGUE 10/11/01

Two Myatt wonder corners on 17&19mins put us 2-0 up in the bottom of the table clash at the very cold and open Mayesbrook Park. The first went directly in and the second was touched in by Harris, via a Barking defender. We then went on to threaten several more times, with their vertically challenged Keeper Ruston looking shaky at anything in the air, until just before half time we were suckered by a ball over the top and Barking pulled one back thru Thomas. Just after the break it was 2-2 when Barking were awarded a penalty and Harwood was given no chance by Moody’s kick. We then came back on top and should have gone back in front when good chances fell to Thomas and Bartley, but both squandered their opportunities, with the Barking keeper making up for his earlier errors with his shot stopping ability. Amazingly Watts was booked for diving on the hour, when he seemed to have been clearly brought down for a penalty. The home side could have won it late on, but Harwood stepped up and made a couple of fine saves. The Ravens were still to register a league win, but signs of improvement are there.

Quote for the game, ‘Our first win might come against them on the last day of the season!’
