BROMLEY 4 MOLESEY 0 – LEAGUE – 12/03/05

This was the most comfortable win for Bromley in a very long time. They dominated a poor Molesey side for the whole game and could have had more if they hadn’t been reduced to ten men midway through the second half.

Bromley started the game on top and put the Moles under pressure, playing lots of nice passing football although by over playing they looked like they might be caught on the break. After a few wayward shots from the edge of the box, the break through came on 30 mins when a long ball from Carroll was expertly diverted over keeper Garrard’s head by Stone on the volley. Eight minutes later Bromley went further in front when Luckett put over a low cross and defender Caughter only managed to direct the cross straight into Logan’s path. The Scottish man drove his shot under Garrard and it sneaked in off the post. The game was over as a competition 5 mins before half time when Carroll on another driving run from midfield latched on to a long ball and once again Garrard was left stranded as the ball sailed over his head. Just before the break walker made a great save from a free kick to keep it 3-0.

Stone came off at half time for Harding who went up front to head the 5-4-1 formation. The Ravens were on top from the start again and Molesey were chasing the ball as we over played things a bit. The visitors did rally though and Walker was called upon to make another good save as they had a spell on top. Bromley held out and had a good shout for a penalty when George was brought down in the box. The Ravens continued to move the ball around well and they finally created a fourth goal on 62 mins when Drewett picked the ball up out wide and cut in before lobbing Garrard and drooping the ball in just under the bar. Labadie came on for Drewett almost straight after and took the wide right slot. Carroll went close with two headers and Luckett also had a shot go just wide, before the game took another turn. Moles substitute Willaims went on a great run from his own half before being brought down by McGowan just outside the box. This was Gavin’s second yellow card of the game and he was ordered off. The game lost it’s way after that, Molesey never really threatened the home goal and Bromley lacked a final cutting edge settling for a comfortable 4-0 win. Carroll was inspirational in midfield and we looked like a much stronger team playing 5-4-1 and using the ball so well.
