DULWICH HAMLET 0 BROMLEY 4 – LEAGUE 12/04/04

A fantastic Bank Holiday display by Bromley saw them over come their Premier Division bound old rivals and left the fans saying "if only" at the end of the match...

Lining up 4-4-2 with Wilfort at right back from start to finish, Bromley played the better football and looked hungrier for the victory. Dulwich’s limited direct and physical approach was easy for Willy and Arkwright to handle at the back. Drewett was elbowed in the face early on, which remarkably only saw a yellow card brandished by eccentric referee Tony Jackson. Bromley had a couple of early chances and then held out against a sustained period of pressure from corners by Dulwich. Amoako had a goal disallowed when Seuke appeared to make a meal of things after missing the ball. Harwood made a great save from Coleman before Bromley edged ahead on 28 mins, when Luckett sent over a free kick and Watson header powerfully in from 6 yards. We then went on to play some really nice stuff and could have had a second when a McKoy cross saw Watson and Amoako collide when going to head the same ball. Just before the break a great save from Seuke saw Luckett swing in a corner and it crept in under the bar before Watson smashed it in for 2-0. Dulwich were all at sea and in injury time Zahana-Oni picked up the ball on the half way line, ran 20y ards and then let an unstoppable drive fly past Seuke to make it 3-0 and send the Bromley fans wild.

The second half saw Bromley contain the home side, defending stoutly against their route one assault and look dangerous on the break. Harwoood made a great save from ex-Raven Side and Dulwich threw on more forwards to try and get back into the game. Curnow was only shown a yellow card after striking Amoako and then attempting to head butt Watson, as ref Jackson continued to baffle the crowd. When going forward the Ravens played some really nice football, most notably when Drewett, Amoako and McKoy combined down the left. Harwood was taken out at a corner and Vines was warming up just in case, as he required a long spell of treatment. When Dulwich refused to give the ball back after a stoppage for a head injury, Bromley fans were furious, but justice was done when with the next attack Amoako put Curnow under pressure and then robbed him off the ball before squaring it to Watson who drove home for 4-0 on 80 mins! By the time Side missed an open goal Dulwich couldn’t wait for the game to end, where as we were hoping for a lot of injury time to fully enjoy what we were seeing, but as the final whistle came the players and fans celebrated this fine win together.
