BROMLEY 2 CORINTHIAN CASUALS 0 – LEAGUE 12/10/02
For 79 mins it looked like Bromley fans would be suffering another frustrating afternoon at The Nest, seeing their team dominate a poor team, but not capitalising. Then finally man of the match Garry Drewett pounced on a through ball left by Casuals keeper & defence and he guided his header into the net to grab the well-deserved advantage. Casuals had come for a draw and once their plan had been foiled they had no answers. The introduction of Kirk Watts had added more of an attacking threat minutes earlier and Macca threw on two more attacking players following the first goal and it paid off when Grant Watts got free in the box and beat the keeper 1 on 1 for 2-0 on 89 mins. It shouldn’t have taken so long for Bromley to beat this side and they must be careful to take their chances earlier in the game, with late goals becoming an often used and dangerous thing to fall back on. The first half saw The Ravens do all the attacking, but the closest they actually came to scoring was when Luckett beat the keeper only for the ball to be whacked away by a covering defender. The second half continued in the same vein and eventually the pressure told on the hard working Casuals defenders, they really had nothing up front to pose Bromley any problems.
