ASHFORD TOWN (MIDDX) 1 BROMLEY 1– LEAGUE 15/02/03

Oh dear, another cold and miserable afternoon at a ground under the Heathrow flight path. Bromley again started well, but then failed to add to their early advantage and eventually found themselves down to 10 men, holding on for a point at the end.

A lively looking Ravens had the early pressure and Ball put us in front on 8 mins when a scuffed clearance fell straight to him and he combined with Falana to slot the ball home from 10 yards for his first BFC goal. Just like the Banstead game though Bromley relaxed too much on their one goal advantage and this wasn’t helped by Drewett having to go off injured before the break.

Ashford took the initiative after half time and were gifted a chance to equalize on 55 mins when Frost was brought down by Vines in the box. Luckily Davidson blasted his penalty over the bar! Bobby George came on for Ball up front and when The Ravens did attack Watts got the usual heavy treatment and little protection from the Ref. On 75 mins Julius lost possession in the midfield and tracked Frost all the way back, but his challenge on the edge of the area was judged to be a foul and not only that but a penalty. Manuel got involved with Frost following the decision and was sent off. To complete the whole sorry affair Butler tucked the penalty away just past Chuck, who’d had another great game. Ashford put on some late pressure, which The Ravens defence coped well with and we still managed to look dangerous on the break, but never really troubled their keeper. 1-1 was about fair.
