BROMLEY 1 MET POLICE 1 – LEAGUE 15/11/03
With virtually a whole team out injured or suspended Bromley stuttered to a disappointing draw against a very poor Police side. Yet again it was to be a tale of missed chances and getting sucker punched.
Bromley started brightly with the young combination of Paul Vines and Amoako looking lively up front. On 10 mins Adolph found himself one on one with keeper MacKenzie and following a collision he managed to swivel on the floor and turn the ball in from 10 yards. Amoako was the best player on the pitch by far and his non-stop effort along with Paul Kember were the only two bright spots for the Ravens. The Police went close a couple of times with a half fit Danny Harwood making two vital saves. The teams went in at 1-0 and we knew we had to score again to win.
The second half was a dour struggle in the middle of the pitch and too many times we were frustrated by marginal off-side decisions. It looked like one goal might be enough to grab the win despite the fact that Harwood was put under pressure by his own defence with crazy back passes through out the game, but on 82 mins a death like silence fell over The Nest as a long looping high ball from the right caught Danny flat footed and was nodded home at the far post for 1-1. Both sides had half chances to win it from there, but there were no more goals and Bromley ended up paying for a lack of creativity. Neither side deserved to win.
