BROMLEY 1 DOVER ATHLETIC 2 – KENT SENIOR CUP FIRST ROUND 16/11/04
Bromley paid the price for missed chances and went out of the Kent Senior Cup thanks to a brilliant 90th minute goal by former Wimbledon player Victor Renner.
The game started in scrappy style with Rose being floored and then soon after a lengthy delay as ref Mr Venamore had to deal with Dover players and the manager getting in his face. We had a good shout for a penalty turned down when Huggins was pushed to the floor in the box. Soon after Suleymanoglu was denied twice by keeper Zepherain. Both times he should have done better. The Turkish striker gave 100% but had no luck whatsoever when it came to his final touch. Walker made a great save from a Dover break, but when Drewett was denied soon after Dover broke again and this time Wilkins finished well for 0-1 on 34 mins. Just before the break Walker made another great stop from a Wilkins header, but we still went in one down and wondering just how!
Bromley started the second half brightly and on 52 mins a Kember cross was bundled home by Huggins to equalize. We had a spell on top following the goal, but no real chances to extend the lead. Taiwo came on for Kember, Amoako replaced Suley and Stradwick came on for Arkwright as Macca tried to give people a run out. Dover had a corner cleared off the line as the came back into the game and then Drewett went on a brilliant run from inside his own half only for his final ball to Amoako to be well cut out by Zepherain. Dover went close again, before on 90 mins Renner got the ball 30 yards out and hit a great ball, which looped over Walker and dropped into the net to win the game for the Seasiders.
