CROYDON 1 BROMLEY 1 - LEAGUE - 17/08/02

There were 33 seconds left in normal time when Myatt stepped up to take the corner, Croydon a team who had hardly had a pre-season and were full of kids were leading 1-0, the ball came over and after a scramble Amoko turned the ball in to salvage a point for The Ravens. This was Adolph’s third goal in three appearances as a sub! For the 10 remaining minutes of injury time Bromley could have had three including one turned off the line, but before that they had a huge amount of possession all game and failed to create anything.

Danny Smith filling in at right midfield went closest, once chipping a shot just wide and once hitting the outside of the post, but in general the forwards failed to hold up the ball and the midfield looked woefully weak. Croydon’s goal came on 64 mins with Langley losing the ball in midfield. Bromley were caught lacking in pace at the back and Martini was too slow off his line as their young forward chipped him brilliantly. It was the sucker punch we had all seen coming, but were powerless to stop. Fortunately The Ravens fought back for a point, but this was not a good performance at all.

Martini made a handful of great saves including one with his chest when he was caught out of his box as we were hit on the break again. We really need to take our chances or this could become a habit and our last minute luck could run out soon.
