BROMLEY 0 CARSHALTON ATH 3 – LEAGUE 18/03/03
Carshalton exacted their revenge upon us completely at the Nest and left Bromley fans wondering what’s gone wrong!
An evenly contested first half ended all square with Chuck playing brilliantly in goal despite obviously carrying an injury. There were no real attempts on goal by Bromley, but we did compete all over the pitch and looked capable of grabbing a point. All this changed on the hour when the Robins stepped up their game and we were found wanting. The first goal came on 64 mins when Harris was caught flat-footed out wide and a low cross found Meah who’d left Manuel standing and slid the ball in from close range. On 70 mins it was 2-0, a completely unmarked York headed home comfortably and the punishment ended 5 mins later when impressive sub Oluessi scored from just inside the box. It could have been more and Bromley looked a beaten side with 20 mins left. Kirk Watts was clearly injured, but was left on, as was Chuck who was having trouble standing by the end of the game, despite Danny being on the bench. There was no cohesive passing by the Ravens, the players were too slow and looked to be lacking any confidence in the tactics or themselves. Carshalton were much more professional and far too clever, Smith had Bromley’s only effort on goal which bounced two feet wide. The game ended following a scuffle, but the Ref kept his cards in his pocket and called an end to this debacle.
