HARROW BOROUGH 2 BROMLEY 0 – BRYCO CUP 18/11/03
Bromley were taught a lesson in finishing by their Premier Division opponents in a fairly evenly matched cup tie at sparsely occupied Earlsmead.
The game started evenly with both teams having a fair share of the ball, but the Ravens injury hit side were a little naïve pushing forward for a corner on 17 mins and we were caught on the break. Harrow broke at pace and a fine cross from the left was finished off by an unmarked Fitzsimon at the far post.
Bromley rallied again and Bobby George found himself one on one with Karamoko, but under no pressure blazed his shot over the bar. Just before half time Harrow scored on the break when Lopez curled a brilliant left foot effort inside the post from outside the box for 2-0. As the half ended Perry Norman who had not liked the Bromley banter was carried off after challenging for the ball with George, as he was taken off he was book for his troubles after screaming like a girl and lashing out at Bobby!
Tony Reid came on for Butler at half time and we switched to three at the back. The second half was very even and we had the better chances, Harney’s free kick was well saved by Mali international Karamoko. Both sides had a few half chances before sub Nigel Pearce appeared to be fouled in the box, but the ref waved play on and the ball was squared to Bobby George on the edge of the six yard box, but unfortunately he blazed his shot over the bar again. The look of horror on his face matched that of the fans behind the goal. Late on Andy Hunt came on for Danny Harwood, who had clearly been struggling all night with his injury. Most of us questioned the wisdom of him starting in such a minor cup competition. It ended 2-0.
