BROMLEY 0 MOLESEY 2 – LEAGUE – 19/04/03

The talk before the game was all about Chuck Martini having pneumonia and Stuart McIntyre being taken to hospital that morning. The game itself was abysmal, possibly the worst Bromley performance of the season, and handed a valuable 3 points to Molesey who were desperate for points to stay up.

The Ravens started with Drewett up front despite having three strikers on the bench!

Ex-Raven Conrad Kane put the visitors in front on 15 mins when he smashed a shot past the nervous looking Danny Harwood from just inside the box. There was some speculation from supporters at that end that the ball might not have gone in, but I have no idea apart from the fact that there were no protests. Vines went closest for Bromley heading a low corner against a post and Molesey eventually cleared the ball up to their 40+ year old forward line of Kane and Andy Sayer. Harwood spilled a couple of high balls, which escaped punishment. There were no more goals in the half, but Bromley received a big blow when Mark Harris went off with a nasty head injury. Bobby George replaced him and went up front.

The second half was dire with the wind swirling around and the ball bouncing around on the hard pitch, The Ravens failed to string any passes together and had no attacking ideas. Molesey went 2-0 up on 50 mins when a Hughes corner went straight in over Danny and in under the bar. Their No.6 Richardson, who had earlier caught Watts very late, was flattened by Danny Smith and was carried off. Vines continued to be the Ravens best chance of a goal, when he hit the post again from a corner, but only seconds later he was lucky to stay on after a cynical foul on a Molesey forward when he was the last man. Molesey deserved their win. Despite being a poor side they worked very hard and showed they desperately wanted to win, Bromley looked lost and clueless.
