BROMLEY 1 METROPOLITAN POLICE 1 – LEAGUE – 19/04/05

A tense night at Hayes Lane saw this match between two playoff chasing teams finish all square and left Bromley still needing two wins from their last two regular season games to secure a place in the post season program.

Bromley had the early pressure. Falana, who almost seemed too up for it, caught Gregory late and was spoken to by ref Mr Buck. Ex-Bromley striker Watson didn’t really have much of an impact on the match apart from two late challenges, one on Luckett and Potterill. Despite the pressure though Bromley got caught on the break and found themselves 1-0 down on 27 mins. A cross from the right was directed towards goal and saved by Walker, but former Bromley player Scott Bennetts headed in the rebound. Bromley seemed stunned for a while and the Met nearly made it two from the same route. Thankfully this time Potterill was on hand to clear off the line. Bromley played themselves in trouble in midfield and took a while to settle back into things, lacking a bit of pace up front, although they did make one chance before the half when Falana headed a Logan cross just over.

The second half saw Bromley come out gunning for the equaliser, with the Met soaking up the pressure and looking to hit on the break. On the hour Adolph Amoako came on for Logan and we went with three up front, although this did leave us a little open down the left. Police keeper MacKenzie made two good saves, from Falana and Amoako as the Ravens finally opened up their defence, before on 73 mins the equaliser finally came. A cross from the left was knocked down by George and Amoako just got enough on the ball to direct it in from close range. Drewett and Amoako both saw efforts go just wide and Carroll had a header saved before the final whistle came and the game frustratingly finished all square.

Quote for the game: ‘Falana is better than Watson!’ – Most people behind the goal.

Team: Walker, McGowan, Luckett, Henriques, Okafor, Potterill, Logan, Falana, Tomkpins, Drewett, Carroll.

Subs: Amoako, George, Harding, Silk, Stradwick.
