Despite a promising first half display of attacking football Bromley failed to trouble the score against their resilient Kent League opposition and went down to a soft 28th minute effort by Wayne Barrett. The Ravens midfield and defence were opened up by some nice passing and Barrett was given time and space to roll the ball past Keeper Wesley Jackman. Akuamoah, Drewett and McGowan all looked class and linked up well, but there was no killer instinct in front of goal. A makeshift defence which included Bartley at centre back held up ok as did the debutant keeper despite looking a little shaky early on.
The second half is best forgotten quickly, after numerous changes Bromley failed to find any cohesion and created few chances, the few times they did break through they were thwarted by a flag happy Linesman who failed to keep up with play. All in all this was pretty dismal stuff with Bromley looking lack lustre in the heat and they were beaten by a side who wanted it more and worked hard.
‘That was NOT worth £6!’
