TOOTING & MITCHAM UTD 0 BROMLEY 1 – LEAGUE – 23/04/03

Tooting’s new ground is just mad! It reminds me of a First Division Dutch ground, great terracing and a quality stand, but I bet it’s cold in the winter! The Terrors just need a pitch and a team to match it now...

Bromley started the game on the up and played some really nice football going forward. With the Terrors defence looking sluggish and un-omfortable, Bromley cashed in on 16 mins when Myatt pounced on a loose high ball and possibly brought it down with his hand before lobbing the keeper from 10 yards. Falana, David Smith and Bobby George all tormented the home defence, before their frustration boiled over on 39 mins when Cormack cracked Kirk Watts across the shins from behind when he had been skinned by the wing wizard. Cormack was sent off and made his sorry walk to the dressing rooms under a hail of abuse from the HLU’s, Kirk underwent lengthy treatment before continuing. Falana had the Ravens best other chance, but couldn’t dig the ball out from the very uneven pitch.

Tooting came back into things in the second half, but Danny Harwood was equal to anything thrown at him and Macca changed things around bringing on Wilfort and Manuel. Myatt and Falana both missed good opportunities to score late on but the one goal was enough to secure the win. Ex-Raven Dean Forbes looked totally fed up and if he wants away, we’ll certainly have him back!
