BROMLEY 2 DULWICH HAMLET 0 - LEAGUE - 23/04/05

Bromley made sure that they only required a point from their last game of the regular season to make it into the playoffs with a steady 2-0 win over a very young Dulwich side.

Bromley started with a 3-5-2 formation and took a while to settle into the game. The first real incident was what looked to be an elbow on Colin Luckett, but ref Mr Hoare chose to ignore it. Cornwall went close for Hamlet with a header and also had a shout for a penalty as Dulwich exploited the space either side of the back three. George and Billy decided to switch to 4-4-2 and the impact was almost immediate. McGowan was denied by away keeper Seuke after a slick move from a short corner. Seuke was nearly caught out when he received an awful back pass and McGowan just took too long to get the ball under control. Falana dominated Dulwich’s defence in the air and Tommo went very close before the break through finally came on 40 mins. A long ball was brought down by Carroll and as Hamlet shouted for handball the ball bounced to Drewett who crashed the ball home on the volley from 25 yards. 1-0 at half time and Bromley looked to be stepping up a gear.

The second half saw Bromley come out searching for a second goal. Drewett was causing the young defence real problems and he was the key to the second goal on 54 mins. Patterson and Seuke left a through ball for each other and Drewett nipped in only for Seuke to knock him to the ground and concede a penalty. Tompkins stepped up and smashed his spot kick down the middle going in off the keeper's foot. Dulwich were not beaten yet and Walker had to pull off a great save almost immediately. Falana ran through one on one, showing great strength, but Seuke was able to stop his effort and for a while Bromley looked like they might get more goals as the Hamlet defence were all at sea. They eventually settled down again and Cornwall had an effort that went just wide. Amoako came on for Tommo and looked well up for it again. He had a good shout for a penalty turned down late on, but the game finished 2-0 and the season remained alive into the last league game.
