LEATHERHEAD 1 BROMLEY 1 – LEAGUE 24/09/02

Part one of the saga and nothing much given away for the cup game on the Saturday. Bromley could have won this game, but threw away their lead and generally failed to make possession count. Leatherhead were obviously charged up by the publishing of Myatt’s disparaging scouting report on the official website.

The first half was end to end for the most part with Grant Watts going closest for Bromley, hitting the bar from the edge of the box. At the other end Martini was all at sea more than once, but managed to keep The Tanners out one way or another. The Referee left both sides equally confused with his display. 0-0. After the break The Ravens started the brighter and made their dominance count when Langley smashed a tremendous half volley into the top corner of the net.

For a while after the goal the game was there for the taking, but Bromley failed to capitalise on their attacks and were made to pay on 79 mins when Martini fumbled what seemed a tame effort and Webb ran in to convert the tap in. Cause for concern came in the shape of a limping Gary Drewett and the lack a goal scoring threat up front.

Quote for the game, ’We’ve done their team-talk for them!’
