BROMLEY 2 BOGNOR REGIS TOWN 1 – LEAGUE 25/01/03

Absolutely massive win for The Ravens in front of a good crowd at The Nest hungry for a home game and pleased to see a fine win.

Bromley started the game playing 3-4-2-1 and looked a little awkward at first, but Watts and Falana led from the front and gave The Rocks' defence plenty to think about. Unfortunately two nasty looking injuries meant changes had to be made when Joe Vines (knee) and then John Wilfort (shoulder) had to go off. This was the third time this season that Wilfort had dislocated his shoulder and it looks like the operation he has been putting off must now go ahead. Teenager Gary Cook came on at the back and Adolph Amoako went up front to play alongside Falana. Immediately Bromley pushed forward and it was Amoako who put The Ravens in front in first half injury time with a swerving run into the box and well placed shot past Keeper Kirby for 1-0.

The second half saw Bromley start well with Amoako going close, but Bognor rallied and started to put on some real pressure. On 58 mins The Rocks drew level when Cook tried to clear a corner off the line only for the ball to bounce in off a Bognor forward! The Ravens surged right back into things and went back in front within 2 mins when Myatt combined well with Watts and his low cross was turned in by Falana. The celebrations that followed showed how much this meant to the players and the fans, with Wade leading it all! Bognor again came back into things and put us under some real pressure Martini made two good saves and Amaning and Harris made crucial blocks. There was a bizarre scuffle midway through the half that saw 3 players booked, it seemed that it was inevitable with The Ref not getting hold of things from the start and Bognor not afraid to get stuck in to say the least! The Ravens held on ‘til the end and Amoako even had a couple of good chances to extend the lead before the final whistle was greeted with a massive roar.

Quote for the game, ‘How did all these c***s get hold of a quid!’
