BROMLEY 0 BANSTEAD ATHLETIC 1 – LEAGUE 25/01/05

Bromley got what they deserved from this game. We were out-battled and stifled by a hard working Banstead side who had five ex-Bromley players in their ranks.

Bromley started brightly with a series of corners and free kicks around the box. Banstead did go close from a corner and looked to get at us on the break. On 22 mins Bromley paid the price for not taking their chances when Henriques was caught in possession in his own penalty area and John cashed in to put the A’s 1-0 up. Borg in the away goal pulled off a great save from Luckett soon after, but Banstead started to look the better side and we ran out of attacking ideas. Drewett was victim to a terrible tackle before the break and a scuffle broke out. In first half injury time Walker made a fantastic save from George.

Bromley started brightly again in the second half, but once again we lost our way as the A’s frustrated our attempts to equalize. Amoako was replaced by Paul Kember, but sadly PK was carried off minutes later with a bad injury. The Ravens had the majority of possession for the rest of the game, but never looked like making a break through. At the other end George missed a sitter when unmarked at the back post. In the late spell of pressure for Bromley Curnow went closest with a half volley into the side netting, but in reality we deserved to lose this game. Simon Huckle ran the midfield for Banstead and the pace of Neil John was too much for our defence, which desperately missed Sam Okafor.
