BROMLEY 0 SLOUGH TOWN 3 – LEAGUE – 25/08/01

As Bromley took the field Radiohead was playing on the PA, it set the mood nicely.

Outclassed by a team that only met each other for the first time one and a half weeks ago!

In almost unbearable heat Bromley wilted and despite three formation changes could not find a way around the Slough defence. Tim Clark debuted at the back, Veli Hakki started for Slough! We went one down on 33mins when Thompson was left un- marked to fire home. Garland and Francis were then substituted, but despite Junju and Side’s best efforts they could not compete in the air and did not get any balls to feet. In the second half Bromley started with a 4-4-2 formation with Watts coming on, and looked more threatening until Haynes found his way thru to put Slough two up on 52mins. Side and Junju both went close despite being increasingly more isolated and at the other end several chances went begging before Holsgrove got the third. Bowen was pushed up front for the final few minutes, but got little of the ball. The final whistle was greeted with calls for the head of Dave Garland and general dismay of the Bromley faithful.

Quote for the game, ‘Watts and Junju deserve to play in a better team than this!’
