NORTHWOOD 2 BROMLEY 2 – LEAGUE 25/09/01

Another encouraging display away from home against a tough opposition. The game started very open with both sides staging good attacks, but it was Northwood who took advantage first. On 12mins the Bromley defence, looking a little shaky without the suspended Dean Forbes, was opened up and Fitzgerald beat Harwood low to his left. Bromley came straight back into it tough and on 22mins Jjunju broke down the right and crossed low for watts to hit the equaliser from the edge of the six yard box. Northwood then had a very strong period of possession. On the half hour they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Bromley box and as Cook rose to his feet he clearly hit a Bromley defender in the face, but was only booked! To add insult to the facial injury It was Cook who put Northwood back in front on 32mins when he beat Harwood to a 50-50 ball, knocking Danny over as he scored. Yet again though The Ravens came back and made it 2-2 on 41mins when Side finished off another great run and cross from Jjunu. Bromley had a couple of half chances in the second half, but the home side had the better of the game and Harwood made some fine saves. Bromley new boy John Dixon was lucky to stay on the pitch also after a late TFT. All in all The Referee had an ‘interesting game’ and seemed to be trying to help Northwood with a series of late freekick decisions and 7 mins injury time, but Bromley held on for a hard fought point.
