BROMLEY 2 HAMPTON & RICHMOND BORO 0 LEAGUE 25/10/03
The first game in the post-McIntyre era and understandably it started in a subdued manner on and off the pitch. Hampton had the best of the early part of the game and it was only thanks to Danny Harwood that it remained 0-0 after he made two great saves. Bromley settled into the game as it went on and began to press the Beavers back into their own half for long periods. On 42 mins a great move saw the ball come to Jason McKoy 25 yards out and he hit a sublime shot with the out side of his boot into the roof of the net. The roar of relief from behind the goal was matched by the players celebrations. 1-0 at half time and optimism had resurfaced.
The second half began with Bromley on top, playing some nice football and looking very confident on the ball. As time went on Hampton began to press and once again Danny Harwood was called upon to make two good saves. Adolph Amoako came on to add extra zip up front and troubled the sturdy Beavers back line straight away. Hampton are a big, strong team, but their direct approach was industrial and surprising given Alan Devonshire is their manager. With Bromley back on top a corner came out to Mark Hammond and his shot from the edge of the box was turned into the net by Hampton defender Paris on 86 mins. Tony Reid went off to a rapturous reception after giving a massive display up front and the rest of the team soon received their deserved applause as the final whistle went.
