LEWES 1 BROMLEY 0 – LEAGUE - 26/08/02

If the intro to this report seems very similar to the last two I make no apologies. Yet again Bromley were left ruing missed chances after dominating a game for the majority of the 90 mins and being suckerpunched in injury time. Countless set pieces and crosses from the awesome Kirk Watts went begging, especially in the second half, but the keeper was hardly tested. Our defence looked solid and every player gave their all, but there was no luck to be had.

Debutant Ellis looked impressive in midfield, Amoako looked a tricky as ever when he came on and Bartley was tireless up front, but we paid a massive price for this inability to score when after Bromley were pressing for a goal in the last minute Lewes broke and with 4 players bearing down on 2 cashed in with a low cross that was coolly finished by ex-Bromley player Germaine Amauel. The home crowd went mad and many Bromley fans as well as players sank to their knees with their heads in their hands, heartbroken that such a strong performance was to end in another defeat.

Quote for the game, ‘One piece of rubber could have saved all this pain!’
