BROMLEY 2 METROPOLITAN POLICE 3 – LEAGUE 26/10/02

Truly awful! Don’t even try and blame the spineless Ref for this defeat, this game showed up the flaws in the current side and that we can’t always rely on late goals to get us out of trouble. Bromley gifted the Police their first goal on 10 mins when Martini dropped a cross at the feet of Daly who tapped in for 0-1. Grant Watts missed two glorious opportunities to level the scores, but The Ravens were outmuscled on many occasions by a robust direct side. Harris headed in from a Harney cross on 39 mins. From that point it should have been the start of Bromley’s dominance, but no! Only a minute later a soft Bartley back header saw Martini make a hash of things and Daly once again pounced for 1-2 at the break.

The second half saw Bromley fail to take advantage of their possession of the ball and when they did threaten the goal MacKenzie was in excellent form. A glorious chance for sub Amoako to equalize was squandered when the youngster chipped the keeper only for the ball to just go over. With 20 mins to go Bromley’s defence was pulled all over the shop and Tomlinson capitalized with a free header from a cross to virtually seal the three points for the Met. On 86 mins The Ravens with four in attack broke into the box only for Akuamoah to be sent sprawling under the challenge of the keeper and defender. It was somewhat harshly that Dunn was sent off before Myatt smashed in the penalty for some late hope. In injury time Amoako had one last chance to salvage a point, but his shot went just over from 10yards. To be honest we got exactly what we deserved and if we can’t beat teams as poor as this we have to seriously look at ourselves.
