BROMLEY 2 DULWICH HAMLET 2 – LEAGUE 26/12/03
Ten days after our last match and with a new manager in charge we took on our local rivals in this Boxing Day clash. It finished as a draw and that was about fair.
The wind and swirling rain made sure the first half was a pretty scrappy affair and there were only a couple of chances for either team. Ex-Raven Charly Side blasted over from 10 yards when one on one with Harwood and Amoako shot straight at the keeper in a similar position at the benches end. Hammond went off after 20 mins to be replaced by the excellent Falana with debutant Peter Overton dropping into midfield. The main event of the first half was the vicious abuse directed at Dulwich keeper Scott Ward by a certain AIDS obsessed tube worker! The lad with the bizarre hair cut handled it really well to be fair.
The second half was a much better spectacle and Bromley took the lead after a penalty was awarded for handball on 48 mins. Amoako stepped up and his effort was saved by Ward, but the linesman spotted he was off his line and Adolph put away the re-take in the other corner. Overton got a nasty knock on the head, but carried on after lengthy treatment. Dulwich had a goal disallowed for offside, but we failed to heed the warning on and on 65 mins Side was put clear though and finished really well for 1-1. 10 mins later Dulwich were awarded a penalty for at worst a clumsy tackle just inside the box. Coleman tucked the kick away and it looked like we had blown it. Bromley kept going and started to have the better of the play going into the last ten, the introduction of McKoy was long over due. Wilfort had a thunderous shot turned onto the post by Ward before on 86 mins Amoako broke down the right and crossed for Falana who brilliantly managed step back and volley the ball into the net for the draw.
