BROMLEY 4 BRACKNELL TOWN 0 – LEAGUE 27/03/04
After a dodgy first 15 mins when Bracknell were well on top and we were all at sea, Bromley settled nicely into their 4-4-2 formation and with debutant Mark Watson up front they really looked the business.
Harwood had already made a couple of good saves and Wilfort had received a nasty looking elbow to the face prior to the key turning point in the game, on 15 mins when Watson was brought down in the box and Harney stepped up to put us in front with our first shot! The Robins were physically shaken by this and were 2-0 down 4 mins later when good work from Vines saw the ball come out to Watson who smashed a half volley home from 20 yards into the roof of the net. Bromley really started to play some nice stuff and Watson headed just over before we made it 3-0 on 26 mins when Drewett, who really started to look like the player he was last season, crossed for Vines to head home from 6 yards. Coming into the break Bracknell rallied and it was more even, with them having the occasional half chance.
The second half saw Bromley play some indulgent football and Bracknell stage counter attacks that came to nothing. Sub Amoako was denied by the bumpy pitch after beating Andrews his effort bounced up and back away from the goal! Watson had another header just over the bar from a corner, before on 79 mins he ran through the away defence only to be kicked in the side by Hammonds. Ref Hopkins awarded a penalty and sent the Robins No.2 off. George stepped up and smashed the penalty home for 4-0 and a convincing win for the Ravens. Youth team captain Hill came on as sub for his debut and looked to settle in ok. Bracknell No.11 Palmer attracted the mirth of some of the Home fans after it was noticed that he actively avoided the ball in the entire game and on the four or five times he did touch it he gave it away, before throwing his arms out and looking at the bench!
