EGHAM TOWN 1 BROMLEY 0 – LEAGUE – 28/04/03

A very good display by what can best be described as a reserve team! Vlad Lazic and Jerome Bennett made their first starts of the season and both had good games. Harwood, Myatt, Luckett and Drewett were the only recognised first team players who started ahead of the LSC Final on Wednesday.

The game started very evenly with both sides having spells of attacking play without ever troubling either keeper. The only piece of coolness in front of goal came on 26 mins when Dugdale turned and cracked in a shot from a corner past Harwood for 1-0. Ryman League veteran Mark Xavier still looked class up front for Egham, but the makeshift back four dealt with him well. Khalouq had to go off injured just before the break, which saw Danny Smith come on and Amaning switch to left midfield. The balance of the team looked a little stronger from that point, but Walton in the ‘Sarnies’ goal was still untroubled going into the break.

The second half saw Bromley under spells of pressure, but still look good on the break only to be frustrated by the home sides offside trap on several occasions. Jose Arrabali and Jerome Bennet both came on and had the Ravens best chances as the half went on. Arrabali hit the crossbar after cutting in from the right and Bennett was just inches away from turning in a great Wilfort cross. Egham held out and the fans celebrated their victory in a style that I hoped we’d repeat on Wednesday.
