BROMLEY 1 HORSHAM 0 – LEAGUE 29/03/03

The whole game was played in a pre-season friendly type of pace and atmosphere, save for a few Horsham fans who sang all afternoon in a desperate attempt to lift their side out of lethargy.

The Hornets did start the brighter and Chuck was called on to make two outstanding saves. The Moroccan played exceptionally well despite still obviously being in pain and unable to take his goal kicks. Bromley slowly got going and were handed the advantage on 19 mins when a dipping cross from Myatt was flicked over his own Keeper and into the net by ex-Raven Andy Salako. Grant Watts went off injured and Wade Falana came on to add some well needed strength in the forward line. Recently departed Raven Steffan Ball was kept quiet all game by Joe Vines who looked comfortable partnering Harris in back four. 1-0 at half time and all to play for.

The second half saw Bromley play some really nice approach football, but fail to really create any clear chances. George and Falana both went close from wide positions and Kirk Watts looked lively, even Manuel had a steady last 10 mins. Horsham came into the game late on and put the defence under pressure, but they held out ok and took the three points.

Quote for the game, ‘That’s more than you did when you played for us Salako!’
