BROMLEY 2 KINGSTONIAN 1 – FRIENDLY 29/07/03

Another good display, this time against a Premier Division side and we showed really promising strength in depth in all departments.

The game started at a good pace and was very competitive, with K’s looking slightly more assured, but Bromley matching the effort and stringing together some nice moves. Potterill put in a wonderful cross, which Reid headed just wide before K’s went in front on 11 mins when Nurse crashed in a terrific shot from outside the box. Reid again went close before the break when he hit the bar from distance and K’s also hit the woodwork. Grant Watts put in a short but effective shift in midfield, Hunt also made a good save from a header, before the sides went in at 0-1.

The second half saw Bromley really turn it on for 20 mins and win the game in that period. K’s had a goal disallowed for offside before a poor free kick from McKoy ricocheted into the box and K’s No.5 put the ball into his own net under pressure from Reid. Only 5 mins later some great work from Amoako set up Kirk Watts who finished with a fine first time strike and left the visitors looking static. Bromley played some nice stuff for a while, but following many substitutions the shape of the team became a bit disjointed and K’s came back into it a bit more, but Ellis had a promising display. They hit the bar again and then late on Harwood made one fantastic save from a fierce driven shot. Bromley held out and the Ravens fans went home happy again and looking forward to the league season.
