A tough debut for young Keeper Steven Windegaard, but he by no means should take all the blame for this pathetically one sided defeat to a well organised Slough side. For ten minutes we looked ok, but slowly Slough began to dominate the game and finally they went in front on 17 mins when a cross was allowed to bounce across the area and with Windegaard and his defenders looking at each other Roach nipped in to head home. Bromley staged a few promising attacks, but they only had one real effort on goal in the whole game. The second goal came seconds into the second half when Roach let fly from distance and Windegaard let the ball slip through his hands at the near post. Bromley fell apart and looked increasingly disjointed before McPherson hit the third on 67 mins after the defence failed to clear a corner.
It looked like it would be more, but the game fell away in general from that point, aside from both teams having clear penalties turned down by a poor ref. Only Bartley and Harris could gain any credit from this one.
Quote for the game, ‘Yet again we died like a salted snail!’ ‘It’s just not fair!’
