Sunfactor - re: regarding (CD / Year 3 Thousand / yr3002 / 1999)

- Midnight - Opens in a poppy, bouncy way before exploding with a big OI! I hesitate to use the word emo to describe this but it's difficult to find another word. I love the vocals on this. Little bit of a Hot Water Music vibe going on. Nice story going through the song as well - seems to be something about a guy who meets a girl for a fleeting instant, he doesn't even know her name but he falls for her big time. And then she's gone.

- Small Town - Great segue into this song. Definitely my favourite on this EP. Lots of energy running through it an a simple but effective bassline. I could easily dance to this. Mention of Dairy Queen makes me smile.

- Sal Paradise - I lose the flow a bit with the drums at the start of this but I LOVE the REMy guitar (I'm sorry! That's what it reminds me of!) that follows. Track is named after a character in Kerouac's "On The Road" I think but I don't really see the link with this song.

- Palmer 5 - Slowing things down big time here at the start of this song. Reminds me of sitting at the edge of a lake with my feet in the water contemplating where I've gone wrong and then suddenly things come crashing down. "I shoulda known better!" Crying a little bit and then wondering some more, hoping beyond hope to get back. This is a great song.

- Little Rocks Everywhere - Rock-out beginning. Reminds me of someone I can't quite put my finger on. I keep hearing snatches of beauty here - wonderful words. Feelings I've often expressed myself. It's a nice way to end the record and definitely leaves me wanting to hear more.

/ 10
