The Greyhound was a typical English music pub. One bar for the drinkin' trade. Next door a long thin room with fruit machines and a pinball machine in the entrance, a couple of step then led down to a "dancefloor" with a bar down the left and a stage at the end. The bands had a small anteroom off to the left of the stage big enough for about 4 groupies ( just enough then !)The toilets were in the usual disgusting state and it was here that I hatched a plan of emulating the guys who recorded the "Live at the Roxy WC1" album. Trouble was my recording equipment of the time ( a walkman with a record facility ) got blown away by the sound of 4 debauched rock 'n' rollers.
Now there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to play any tunes from a band that you really like so I thought go and ask backstage when the record is coming out. The band had just come off stage, the bouncer on the door was talking to someone so I snuck in to find the guys on an old sofa and beer crates with a few "friends".......... |
