"I fell in love as I fell down the stairs, into the arms of a girl who really cared"

The Greyhound was a typical English music pub. One bar for the drinkin' trade. Next door a long thin room with fruit machines and a pinball machine in the entrance, a couple of step then led down to a "dancefloor" with a bar down the left and a stage at the end. The bands had a small anteroom off to the left of the stage big enough for about 4 groupies ( just enough then !)The toilets were in the usual disgusting state and it was here that I hatched a plan of emulating the guys who recorded the "Live at the Roxy WC1" album. Trouble was my recording equipment of the time ( a walkman with a record facility ) got blown away by the sound of 4 debauched rock 'n' rollers. Now there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to play any tunes from a band that you really like so I thought go and ask backstage when the record is coming out. The band had just come off stage, the bouncer on the door was talking to someone so I snuck in to find the guys on an old sofa and beer crates with a few "friends"..........

....... so i pitched my question expecting a "who the f**k are you". Which if looks could speak, I got. Everyone laughed. (I guess this was a sore subject ) Then Tyla said " well I know it sounds typical but in the next 2 weeks we're gonna sign with a record company". Now my story of the Dogs has many chance events and so I better fill in some of the details..... ......In 1984 or so I was a 'student'. Across town on one of the campuses a band called "The Lords of The New Church" were playing. Now I love live music and even though I wasn't a Lords fan I thought there could be nothing better than to squander your grant on seeing live music. So off I went. That was the start of a love affair that has spanned 18 years ( 'cept when I thought that Tyla had killed himself around '95 ). The Dogs D'Amour were supporting and although it wasn't always cool to turn up in time for the support or drag yourself away from the bar fortunately I wasn't cool and the bar was in the same room as the stage............... and on it these 4 guys were thumping out great tunes ( Jaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmeeeeesssss)( OK Chains ! ) and the lead singer just captured your attention.( Not since Danko Jones this year has anyone done it since for me ! ).........
