Did You Know?

by Mechelena

I thank KnightRanger and Desiree for the opportunity to do a column such as this. At times I read many things that I didn't know. Odd quotes in books that brought me to this idea for a column. I hope you will enjoy the information I will give.

Now, *smiles* Did you Know?

herlit

(noun): this Gorean eagle of The Barrens has a wingspan of 6-8 feet. It is carnivorous and has yellow feathers tipped with black. Also called 'Sun-Striker' or 'out-of-the-sun-it-strikes' for its habit of striking with the sun above and behind it. (Book 17: Savages of Gor, page 143; Book 18: Blood Brothers of gor, page 315)
This is a bird not heard of often, but what a smart predator.

Another animal not heard of is the:

turtle, Vosk

(noun): can grow to be gigantic, these animals are carnivorous, aggressive and persistent. Can be difficult to kill. (Book 4: Nomads of Gor, page 204)
I doubt we FWs or slaves would want to run into one. It seems be a match for even an a FM to handle.

Now, you may not have seen this Urt before:

urt, giant

(noun): fat, sleek, and white, it has 3 rows of needle -- like white teeth -- and 4 horns. (Book 2: Outlaw of Gor, page 86)
This one seems more dangerous than most urts I have seen killed.

For a change of subject and something rare but maybe not known:

buttons

(noun): a 'recent' innovation for slave attire, not used on the garments of Freepersons. Most garments are fastened with hooks, pins or brooches. Buttons are considered rather sensuous on Gor. (Book 11: Slave Girl of Gor, page 417)
Looks seeing a lot of FWs may be relooking at their wardrobes.

I hope these things were interesting to you and you enjoyed reading what I found this week. I hope each week to find a new items about tribes or clans that are not known.

I wish all well and hope you read again next week. Each column will range from short to long, depending. I hope they will help you in some way.
