On Site

by Desiree/KR

Greetings GorChat!

I had to laugh this week. I was in one of our rooms as an Admin, dealing with someone from another site who was trying to take one of our people off-site. I informed him of our rules and he responded that GC doesn't have a very good reputation and perhaps if we changed some of our rules, people would like us better.

I told him that GC doesn't care what others think of us -- our rules are our rules. And they are -- for good reason.

The rules at GC have evolved over time, new ones added to protect GC chatters from all the disney that is out there on the web. The sad fact of the matter is that the Mickeys and the Minnies of Gor think they can go anywhere on the Net, stir up trouble, and then go back home and not accept any consequences of their actions.

The classic case was Siobahn, who came to GC, was legally captured and then told by Utar to disney out of the collar. Yes, the same Utar that puffs and puffs about following rules. He wants HIS rules followed, but won't follow the rules of other sites.

Or, you get people coming to GC under fake names, wanting to challenge someone to a fight. Sure, why not? If they lose and die, they just go home and assume their "real" name. They are risking nothing.

It is this sort of action that led KR to develop the rules we have at GorChat. Unfortunately, not all of you seem to have read the rules (gives you my best "shame one you" look). So, please, read the rules. But until you do, here is the "Cliff Notes" version of them.

Raids

If you try to capture or kill someone at his or her home stone, you must follow GC raid rules. This applies whether you are there by yourself or with an entire group of people.

The first rule is you must have used the wilds to enter the room. If you didn't, nothing you do will count.

Second, there must be THREE Free Men (or three Panthers if a Lair) IN the room when you begin your raid. If there aren't, your raid doesn't count.

Third, you must announce that you are raiding (capturing, here to kill, whatever) TWICE before you begin.

Fourth, fastest post wins. It takes three posts to claim a kill (please, read the GC rules to see what legitimate posts are), and it takes three UNINTERRUPTED posts to make a capture.

Five, you must LEAVE through the wilds or nothing you do will be counted.

Six, if you don't use your real Gorean name (one that is posted on your website), nothing you do counts. For example, you can't go in as "Slaver" and try to capture someone. You must use the name you normally chat under at GC.

There are other rules listed under the GC raid rules, but these are the most important and the ones. Failure to follow any one of these rules will mean your raid does not count.

The wilds

Things are pretty much the same in the wilds, though you must deal with random posts that come up. The person who posted directly ABOVE a random post must take the penalty.

One important GC rule is that no one may tell a GC person to go to another site. If non-GC members capture someone on GC, they can only take the person to a GC room to sell them. They may NOT take them to their own site. Anyone who tells someone on GC to go to another site should be ignored and reported to support@gorchat.com.

And again, you must use your real Gorean name, even in the wilds (unless you are an animal). Captures/kills by "Cloaked Warrior," "Slaver," "Hooded Assassin," etc. do not count and may be ignored.

However, if you are in doubt as to whether someone is using their real Gorean name (defined as being posted on the person's home website), go ahead and play the scene out, then check it out. The one thing you DON'T want to do is start arguing out in the wilds. If you're arguing and the other person is posting killing posts, and he turns out to be a legitimate Gorean, you are dead. So play out the scene, get away, etc., THEN lodge your complaint.

Finally, the ONLY place animals can be is IN THE WILDS. We have noted baby larls in rooms recently. This is NOT allowed. Animals may ONLY be in the wilds.

Now, back to the person who said GorChat didn't have a very good reputation. I really have to laugh. Look at the WhoChats on the Gor sites. Gor sites are closing because no one goes there. Pair's Palace may have 12 Goreans on site, WebMaze may must 30 or 40 Goreans. And GorChat? We are running close to 70 every night!

Hai GorChat!!
