On Site

by Desiree/KR

You have probably noticed by now that the GorChat message board has been changed back to "registered use." This is in no way an attempt to keep anyone from posting on the board, but rather an attempt to make them stand behind what they say by using their own Gorean names.

Many of you already are registered to use the GC board from before. But, if you don't remember your password or have not registered for the board, it's very simple to do so. Simply send an email to support@gorchat.com, with the following information:

Your Gorean name
Your room and site (yes, non-GorChat members are welcomed to post on the board)
The password you want to use
That the request is for GC message board
I check the support email once a day (usually in the evenings), every day but Sunday, so expect to be added to the GC board within 24 hours of your request.

Running the site

Many of you already know this, but for the few who don't, I'd like to explain a bit about how this site works.

Brant owns the site and handles all the membership transactions. That is his only involvement in the site.

KNIGHTRANGER runs the site. He sets the policies, decides on when rooms may be opened or closed, decides the rules, decides who to ban, etc. Brant has no desire to be involved in any of that. KR is the last word on anything on GorChat.

Me? I do the technical side of the site. I'm the Gorean computer geek who sets up your room, your message board, answers the support email, etc. I am self-taught, and while I think I have gotten rather good at all this, I cannot always solve the problems that come up.

Neither KNIGHTRANGER nor I are paid for what we do. I have no idea if Gorchat makes a profit or not, but if it does, it goes to Brant. KR and I do what we do because KR had a vision of what Gor should be, and has set out to create that vision on GorChat.

Finally, there are the room leaders and moderators. KR does not interfere in how the rooms are run as long as the basic GC rules are followed. The room leaders are the equivalent of Priest Kings in their own rooms. Their word is law, and things are done the way the room leader wants.

By the same token, KR does not question what the room moderators do. The moderators only answer to the room leader.

Well, that's an overview of GorChat. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us. Until next week, Hai GorChat!
