Did You Know?

by Mechelena

It is once again that time to bring you the column that always ask: Did you Know?

Here is a good one, one maybe not known but by wagon people.

Blue Sky Song:

A refrain from the Wagon Peoples which says in part 'though I die yet there will be the bosk the grass and sky'. (Nomads of Gor, pg 263)
Thought my Brothers and Sisters like that one.

Here is an unusual brand I thought interesting:

Merchant brand:

(sometimes called passage brand) -- A tiny brand in the form of spreading bosk horns for any wishing to do business with the Wagon Peoples that allows their passage over the plains; the stigma connected with this brand is that it suggests that any approaching the wagons do so as slaves. (Nomads of Gor, pg 34)
I just thought that it was interesting how far one would go to do business with the wagon people.

Guess what, bosk even had a wagon called:

Karriga:

A bosk wagon used by the Wagon Peoples. (Nomads of Gor , pg 34)
Bet you thought they always walked.

Here is something else a horn can be used for besides vessels.

bosk horn:

A sounding horn used by the tribes of the Wagon Peoples in battle for signaling; fashioned from the horn of the bosk (Nomads of Gor, pg 259)
So, if you hear horns blowing, it's probably best to look out.

Did you know wagon bosks are made into jewelry?

Paravaci:

One of the 4 tribes of the Wagon Peoples, the Paravaci are known as The Rich People. Their standard is a large banner of jewels strung on golden wires, forming the head and horn of a bosk. The value of such a standard is incalculable. The Paravaci brand is a stylized representation of a bosk head: a semi-circle resting on an inverted isosceles triangle. (Nomads of Gor, pg 14)
Fooled you! No, bosks aren't actually made into jewelry, but the banner of jewels of the tribe represented them, as did the tribe's brand.

Here are animals (slaves) maybe you have not heard of.

Waniyanpi:

(noun; lit. tame cattle): also known as 'The Sames,' a community of slaves who exist in the domains of the Kaiila Tribes. They are owned collectively by the tribes within the lands they inhabit. They grow produce and furnish labor when required. They subscribe to a unisex ethos, bound by 'The Teaching' a cult-like dogma of 'sameness' which says that males, females, animals, vegetables, minerals and abstract concepts are all equal to one. Among the many oddities is their aversion to heterosexual sex. They breed publicly, though anonymously, monitored by their owners at specified times. Homosexuality is tolerated. (Savages of Gor, pgs 272, 291; Blood Brothers of Gor, pgs 131, 152, 156-157)
Hmmmmm Well, no comments on that one. I'll leave that to your own thoughts. *grins, being my Very Proper self*

Well, that's it for the column today. Once again, here I go on the search -- just so I can ask: Did you Know?

Be well Goreans
