to be pleasing

In the books, the duty of a slave is defined repeatedly; she must be absolutely obedient and exquisitely beautiful in all ways at all times. Not an easy task, learning to bend her will to His in all things, nor does it happen overnight. The skill is learned and perfected over time with the Master's guidance as He draws out the natural slave within and molds her into what He wishes her to be.

No two masters are the same...except in so far as each is the total master, just as no two slaves are the same except that each is a total slave.... You must, accordingly, strive to understand, relate to, serve and please the unique master in each man. You must bring your own individual personalities and talents to bear on this challenge. Try in your uniqueness to be perfect and become acutely aware of him. Be sensitive to his moods, and their changes. Find out what he wants from you, and then see that he gets it, and more. Find out what he wants you to be and then be it, beyond his wildest dreams. Remember that you are the slave. You exist for his service and pleasure. (Kajira of Gor, pg 293)
Slavery is so much more than a "belly flash" or a "roll in the furs." As the slave develops, the Master will provide a constant reinforcement of His ways and rules. He will test her in subtle and not so subtle ways, providing firm correction when necessary. The road from feeling that first little tingle in your belly to a complete awakening and total, pleasing obedience is neither a short nor a smooth journey.

The question then becomes, not if you will subjugate your will to that of the Master, but how you will accomplish this. The slave is compelled to look deep within to that part of herself that aches to serve; that part that can find ultimate fulfillment only in the knowledge and realization that His will is greater than hers. She will place her Master's wishes and wants above all else; His smallest whim is greater than any want or need she may have, or think she has.

If you want to be noticed and found pleasing to the Master -- be active, be useful. Find the little things that you can handle within His home or chain, the small day to day things that need tending and take care of those so He does not have to be bothered. Do things to make His life easier.

"But are there no other duties?" I asked.
"A girl's first duty, of course, Master," she said, "is to be pleasing to her Master."
"In what way?" I asked.
"In any, and every way, of course, Master," she said shyly."

Learning to post a descriptive serve or write a steamy dance is the easy part of being a Gorean slave. Learning how to be completely subservient, obedient and pleasing, regardless of how challenged you are by your own stubbornness or any outside influences is the difficult part of becoming fully slave in your mind and heart. A slave may fail because she has not been nurtured or has not been willing to accept the correction and training which will ultimately shape her into a true kajira.

A slave's training will define what she is capable of, her actions show what her true potential is. Simply having the right attitude will go a long way in learning to please a Master and becoming more than just one who pretends or plays a role. Attitude always shows whether it is good or bad. A slave's eyes and ears are for listening and learning; her mouth is for obedience and pleasuring. In the in end, however, it is the slave's own desire or need to please and her understanding of the true nature of Gor that sets her apart from the rest and makes her truly surrendered to her Gorean Master.
