When Worlds Collide
Chapter 9

"Holy shit, I married a Backstreet Boys fan!" Benji exclaimed disgustedly as he looked at Tristen, who was laying in her bunk on the tour bus with headphones on her ears and loudly singing the words to "Backstreet's Back" as she looked through the pages of Modern Bride magazine. Startled, she stopped singing, took her headphones off, and pressed the stop button on her cd man.

"Oh God, please forgive me," he clasped his hands together and looked up to the ceiling with a pleading look on his face. "Hell is way to hot for me and fires make me cough."

She laughed. "Guilty pleasure, sorry sweetie."

It had been a week since they had tied the knot in Vegas, and they were happy newlyweds. Since their engagement was formally announced during a concert, it didn't take long before news spread. Most fans were disappointed, but Benji and the rest of the band figured it was going to happen to every one of them sooner or later, so they wouldn't let some jealous fans ruin their personal lives or their careers. When Paul had gotten married that winter, some fans were disappointed but most eventually got over it.

Benji and Tristen decided that they would have their wedding in California, where Tristen lived, because she had always wanted to get married in the same church that her parents were married in thirty years ago. They would have the reception at her parents' house, because it was huge and they lived on property that overlooked the ocean. It would be a big, formal event because both families wanted it that way. They had already set the date, which was in just over 4 months (after the tour), and decided that they would honeymoon breifly in Greece and then head to Southern California so that both Good Charlotte and Pacifica could record albums. Although it was all spur of the moment, it seemed like it had been well thought out.

"Still looking for the perfect wedding dress, huh?" Benji asked, noticing that she had been flipping through the latest issue of Modern Bride.

"Yeah. I have this picture in my mind, but I haven't seen anything like it anywhere," she said, closing the magazine and throwing it out of her bunk and into the bunk across from hers as Benji climbed in with her.

"Where is everyone?" Benji asked as he layed down next to her, nearly knocking her out of the small bunk. Although he had already noticed that the bus was empty, he had wondered where they all went. The busses were parked behind the arena that they were playing in that day, but it was still about three hours until anyone would start performing and everyone was usually either still sleeping or hanging around in their bus at that time.

"They were all chipper from not having hangovers this morning for the first time since they can't even remember, so they all decided to go look for a place to get breakfast," she said, laying her head on his chest. "I wasn't hungry though."

"Well, it looks like it's just gonna be you and me all alone in here for a while," he said with a wicked smile. "How ever will we pass the time?"

He began kissing her and slowly moving his hand up her shirt to remove it, but she stopped him.

"Wait babe, we can't. I'm on my period," she said, groaning. He sighed disappointedly and removed his hand from underneath her shirt.

"But, I think I can come up with something just as fun," she said giving him an evil smile as she reached down to undo the button on his pants.

"Oh yeah, I think you're right," he said, getting excited. She kissed him on the lips and then slowly slid down his body until her head was underneath the blanket that was covering them.

-two months later-

"Oh my gosh, look at the kitchen!" Tristen said excitedly, as she and Benji were looking at a house that was for sale near Los Angeles, where both of their jobs brought them much of the time. They had decided to purchase a small home there, because it was inevitable that they would be living there while they recorded and dealt with other business matters. They figured that the sooner they bought the better, that way they would have a home to come back to after their honeymoon.

"It's nice," Benji agreed, looking around a newly remodeled kitchen with a great view of the beautifully landscaped backyard. They continued to look around the house, but he was getting tired because they had been looking for about four hours. His main concern was having a house with spare bedrooms that were big enough, so that he could have his family over often since they lived on the east coast and he wanted them to be able to visit him for long periods of time without feeling claustrophobic.

"We've added a bathroom to this room and a door that connects this room to the one right next to it," one of the owners said to them and they showed the house off.

"Perfect," he whispered to Tristen. "That way mom can have a bathroom in her room, as well as easy access to Josh or Sarah or whoever else might be staying with us at the time."

"Yeah!" Tristen agreed. "I love this house."

"Me too," he agreed. "It's my favorite that we've seen so far. What do you think?"

"I want to live here," she said.

"We'll take it!" he said, interrupting one of the owners as he was explaining the type of carpeting that they had chosen for the hallway.

Later that same day, Benji and Tristen were in their hotel room. They had flown to L.A. to look for a house earlier that morning, but had a flight back to Michigan the next day, because they were still on the Warped Tour. Benji was looking through one of his bags for a magazine, while Tristen sorted through her bag looking for some lotion. She came across a tampon and suddenly remembered that she hadn't gotten her period in a while. In fact, she was supposed to start it a week ago. She immediately froze, shocked, and couldn't move.

"Trissy…" Benji started, calling her by the nickname that he had come up for her not long ago. "Have you seen that magazine that I was reading earlier? You know, the one with that guy that we saw in that movie a couple of weeks ago that I said looked like a fish on crack?"

Tristen didn't respond, but just continued standing in the same spot and staring into her bag.

"Trissy? Hello?" He walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, which caused her to jump.

"What's the matter?" he asked, surprised. She sighed and turned her head so that she was looking up into his eyes with concern.

"I think I'm pregnant."
