Note: This is my first ever attempt at writing a Good Charlotte fanfic, please
be kind and review! The idea popped into my head one night and wouldn’t leave
me alone until I wrote it :P. If you like it, please tell me. My continuing
this story further depends on the reviews you send!

Kyoto McPherson had never run so fast in her life, or rather death. Rounding a
corner and ducking in the shadows of a dark alley she leaned against the brick
wall of one of the buildings and tried to catch her breath. If her heart was
still functioning it would be beating a million miles a second. Tilting her
face up towards the heavens and closing her eyes, she cursed her luck. So much
for thinking she would be safe here. As things turned out, slayers were
everywhere.
Her kind weren’t allowed any peace. All Kyoto wanted to do was lead as normal
of a life as she could. She was fated to living a life of fear, always running
away from those sworn to eliminate her. They wouldn’t buy into the idea that
she was harmless. Slayers only accepted Hollywood’s vision of vampires as
ruthless blood-sucking killers. It was true for some but Kyoto could never harm
anything, not even a fly. Sure, her survival depended on blood but she never
took from humans without consent and certainly was never so greedy that’d she’d
drain them completely. She wouldn’t dare impose on anyone the type of lifestyle
she was forced to accept.
Her eyes flew open when she heard a rattling noise coming from the door a few
feet away. Panicking, she ducked behind an empty cardboard box and watched in
terror as the doorknob turned. Her mind was racing and she was praying to
whatever deities would hear her that it wasn’t the guy that was after her.
As the door opened, laughter filled the alley as four people stepped into the
night. From the light provided by the moon, and their deep voices, she could
tell they were all guys. Two of them looked identical aside from the small tuft
of pink amidst black hair on one. There was another with dark hair like the
first two. The last sported blonde hair. All but one was carrying guitars.
Relief flooded over her once she realized that none of these guys were the one
chasing her.
“Man, that sure was one hyped crowd tonight.” The blonde commented.
Pink boy grinned and brushed his fingers across his shirt after first blowing
on them, “Of course they were Paul. I was kicking major ass on stage after
all.”
“Nah, I think it was my voice that knocked ‘em off their feet.” Pink boy’s
look-alike disagreed jokingly.
The other dark headed boy turned his attention to the one Kyoto now recognized
as Paul, “You think narcissism is a trait of all twins?”
Pink boy’s twin smirked, “Why Billy I think you’re jealous.”
Kyoto was horrified when Pink boy’s eyes looked in her direction. She stayed
perfectly still hoping he didn’t see her. To her relief he looked away and
turned his attention back to his buddies. Growing mighty uncomfortable in her
current position, she shifted as quietly as she could into a more comfortable
arrangement only to disturb an empty beer bottle that began to roll after her
hand accidentally hit it. Terrified, she froze in place, hoping they didn’t
take notice of it.
Luck apparently wasn’t smiling down on her this summer night…
“Did you guys hear anything?” Billy asked, pausing.
Pink boy looked her way again and she bit her lip, “Yeah… I think I see
something.”
“A fan perhaps Benji?” his twin asked comically, turning to Pink boy.
“Why would a fan want to come back here for an autograph?” Paul asked, “It’s
creepy.”
“Aw, poor Paul.” Billy taunted, “Afraid of the dark?”
“Shh!” Benji, formerly known by Kyoto as Pink boy, silenced them and slowly
walked in her direction to investigate the area for the mystery sound she made.
As he got closer and closer, she bit her lip nervously. Oh how she wished going
invisible was part of being a vampire.
His eyes met hers and he shot her a puzzled look, approaching cautiously, “Uh…
hello there. Why are you hiding?”
“What is it?” Kyoto heard his twin ask.
“It’s a girl Joel…” was Benji’s response.
“Ha! I knew it.” His twin walked over next to Benji, Paul and Billy followed,
and held his hand out to Kyoto, “Hi! What’s your name? Were you at our show?”
She shook her head and, refusing to take his hand, hissed a warning, “You’d be
wise to leave me be and get out of here now. Otherwise you’ll blow my cover!”
“Too late for that.” A menacing voice chuckled from behind the four boys.
‘Shit. Shit. Shit!’ Kyoto glanced around for a quick escape and found none. She
was surrounded on three sides by brick walls and the only open area was now
blocked by her hunter. Shaking like a frightened deer trapped by headlights,
she stood up, prepared to defend herself even though she knew she hadn’t a
chance in surviving this encounter.
“Come now Kyoto and accept your fate.” The man growled, “I’ll make it a quick
and painless death if you surrender peacefully… not at all how I dealt with
your friend.”
Kyoto felt tears sting her eyes at the memory of her long time fellow vampire
and friend Marissa. ‘No, be strong Kyoto.’ She coached herself, ‘Don’t let your
fear show.’
“What’s going on?” Joel demanded, confusion clearly written on his expression
as he glanced from her to the man.
“Nothing you need to concern yourself with boy.” The man spat. “Leave us at
once. This is none of your business.”
“We’re making it our business, sir.” Billy snapped, “Why do you want to hurt a
defenseless girl?”
“Defenseless? Ha!” Kyoto’s hunter glared at her after seeing he didn’t have a
clear shot at her with these four boys, Kyoto’s now hailed Saviors, between him
and her, “You just wait Kyoto. The next time I see you you’re dead… that is if
the sun doesn’t get to you first…” He burst into a fit of maniacal laughter and
stalked off.
Slumping back against a wall, Kyoto breathed a shaky sigh of relief. That was
too close for comfort…
“What the hell was that all about?” Benji asked.
“That dude was seriously on crack or something.” Paul added before glancing at
Kyoto worriedly, “Hey, you okay?”
“Fine…” she managed. “Thank you… all of you…”
“No problem.” Joel smiled.
“What’s your name?” Billy asked, “I’m Billy and these are my bandmates and
buddies Paul-“
Paul waved, “Hi.”
“Benji-“
Benji nodded at his acknowledgement, “Hey”
“-And Joel.“
Joel smiled and friendly smile and said, “Hello.”
“I’m Kyoto…” Kyoto said shyly.
“Nice to meet you Kyoto.” Billy smiled and then laughed, “Officially…”
“Why was that guy after you?” Joel asked Kyoto curiously.
Kyoto knew she owed them an explanation but couldn’t think of a logical way to
without them possibly freaking out. How does on go about telling another that
they are a vampire without getting strange or horrified looks back? Glancing up
at the sky, she felt sick to her stomach. The sun would be rising before long.
Kyoto had to get out of there, and fast. If she had her sunglasses she’d be
okay but being the forgetful person she is Kyoto left them back at her
apartment.
“I… I’m sorry I have to get home before sunrise…” She expected the confused
looks they gave her, “I’m kind of exhausted…” That was a half truth. Being what
she was night was the only time she could go outside and she usually spent them
out clubbing.
“How about we walk you home to make sure that creep doesn’t try to hurt you
again?” Benji asked Kyoto.
“That would be nice.” Kyoto replied.
“Where do you live?” Benji questioned her once again.
“Valley Apartments on Sakura Avenue.”
Paul winced, “You’re far from home. Benji and Joel… you two don’t live but a
few blocks from here, right?” They nodded and he continued, “If you’d like we
could take you there and let you rest up a little before heading back to your
own place. Joel and Benji wouldn’t mind, would you guys?”
“Not at all.” Joel agreed.
“I’d like that…” Her eyes were getting heavy and she felt a wave of drowsiness
hit her. She didn’t care that she didn’t really know these guys. They had saved
her life and that was enough reason to trust them. Her vision began to swim and
she felt herself drifting into a dead sleep.
The last thing she heard before drifting off was a concerned voice belonging to
one of her four saviors call out her name…
