Chapter 3

My eyes snapped open. A hiss. Screams. From the living room? I pushed myself out of bed and rushing into the living room. Bright. Too bright. Sunlight?! I hissed, ducking back into the hallway. "Zek! What the fuck happened?"
He appeared beside me, clad in a thick black cloak, hood pulled over his face. "A slayer broke in and took all our fucking curtains this morning while we were still asleep.. They left a note too.." He placed a piece of paper in my hand.
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust,
I'm watching and waiting,
For your next blood lust..
"What are we supposed to do now?" I pulled my knees to my chest.
"We leave at nightfall.." He pulled me off the floor and into Aurora and trinity's room, where the rest of our clan was huddled together. "Pack only one bag, make sure you can carry it.. We're leaving in three hours."
The nodded and hurried to their closets, packing only a few articles of clothing and any other small items they could fit into a single duffle bag. I was stuffing random clothes into my bag when my cell phone let out a shrill ring. I pulled it out of my pocket, a name centered on the green screen. Billy. I quickly hit the ok button.
"Billy!"
He laughs and attempts to mock me. "Leina!"
"Um Billy? Can I ask a favor?"
"Yeah sure.."
"Is there any way for six vampires to get from Los Angeles to where you are without coming in contact with sunlight?"
"Um.. I can get you guys some plane tickets on a night fight." A tapping noise crawled into the background. "Yeah! there should be a fight leaving at 7 o'clock from Los Angeles to D.C...It's an eight hour flight, so you guys should get in two hours before sunrise." I'm guessing he was using a computer..
"Great. Could you pick us up when we get there?"
"Yeah sure, but why are you in such a hurry to get over here?"
"Well.. this morning, while we were sleeping, a slayer broke into our house.."
"Oh god, is everybody okay? Why didn't he kill you guys?"
"Yes we're all fine, and Zek said respectable slayers only hunt at night.."
"Okay.. Well you guys have about 20 minutes to get down to the airport so I think I should go.. Um I just sent the airport my creditcard number and you guys have six first class tickets. Just tell them you have a reservation under Billy Martian and the password is blood lust."
"Thanks a lot.. Bye Billy.."
"Seeya Lei.." And with that i turned off my phone and stuffed it back in my pocket.
"Zek! " I found him in our bedroom. "We're going to the airport.. Now"
He nodded. We left our room, got the others, and arrived at the airport 10 minutes before our flight left. I led everyone up to the counter, catching damn near every eye in the room. I mean, wouldn't you look if you saw six people, three girls in black pants, V-cut black lace-up medieval style shirts, combat boots, and sunglasses, and three guys in black pants, black wife beaters with black fishnet shirts over them, combat boots, and sunglasses.. We were quite the site.
"Can I help you?" The lady at the desk looked us over, Zek and I standing in front of the other four.
"Yeah I have a reservation for six first class tickets.." I sighed impatiently.
She typed some crap into her computer. "I need your reservation name and password."
" Billy Martin.. Blood lust." I glanced at the clock.. 6:54..Shit woman hurry up.
She handed me six ticket stubs and directed us to our terminal. We boarded to plane, requesting the curtains in the empty first class lounge to remain closed.
Eight hours later we were exiting the plane, Zek and I leading the others. I spotted Billy slumped over in one of the uncomfortable orange chairs, half asleep. "Over there Zek.." I led everyone towards Billy.
I guess he sensed something because his eyes fluttered open and scanned the crowd until he spotted us. Or maybe it was the fact the annoying lady on the intercom just announced our flight had arrived. "Leina!" He jumped out of his seat when we finally reached him.
"Nice to see you too Billy." I gave him a quaint smile.
"Let's get you guys back to my place before sunrise.. It's about an hour drive so we need to go." He led us out to a black van and we piled in, Billy driving, me in the passenger seat, Zek on the first of the three rows in the back, Seth and Gabriel on the second, and Trinity and Aurora on the third.
The ride to Billy's house was long and quiet. No one bothered to speak. We finally came to a stop in front of a large two story house, dark gray in color.
"Beautiful.." I absentmindedly whispered the word.
Billy grinned. "Really?"
I grinned sheepishly. "Did I say that?"
"Yeah.. You did." He climbed out of the van, the rest of us following in tow, and led us into his house. "There's four bed rooms on the right wing, past the kitchen, and four ,not counting the master bedroom, upstairs down the left hallway. Pick which ever room you want.."
We all settled on three rooms upstairs, the same pairing as always, me in the room to the left of Billy's, the girls to the right, and the boys to the right of them. Everyone had said their goodnight's to Billy and retired to their rooms for a good day's sleep, except for me. Zek had just went to our room, and Billy and I had gone to his room.
Billy crawled into his huge red and black bed. "So how long are you guys gonna stay?"
I climbed into the bed beside him, snuggling myself into the soft blankets. "I dunno, however long Zek decides to stay.. He is the clan leader after all.."
A boom. Thunder? A crackle and a pop. Lightening? A whimper. Billy?! I laughed. "Billy are you afraid of storms?"
He sniffled and yelped when the lightening popped again. "Y..Yes.."
"Awwh.. Poor baby.." I brushed my fingers over his bare chest.
He shivered and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Protect me?"
I growled playfully in his ear. "I might bite."
He nuzzled into the crook of my neck, biting at my neck teasingly. "That'd be nice."
I laughed. "I couldn't bite you Billy.. You taste yummy, but I just couldn't.."
He sighed, his body actually starting to warm my naturally cold skin. "It was worth a shot."
Why was life so complicated? For once I found a friend that I don't think I could bare to see get old and die.. Eternity without seeing Billy? I just don't think I could handle it.
