Plot: Upon hearing a dark prophecy, Diana travels to Gotham to aid Batman and the Huntress in stopping Poison Ivy, the Scarecrow, and the Joker, only to find that they're not the mere psychopaths they once appeared to be.

Greek mythology comes alive this issue in a big way. Several ancient gods return in the name of Ares to entice and terrorize the public, and it just wouldn't be Greece in Gotham if Maxie Zeus wasn't around to proselytize.

Of the three Bat-villains used, Pam seems to be the most unwilling participant in the gods' plans. She knows what it's like to be a ruler. In the Batman: Poison Ivy one-shot, she had an entire island to herself, and later, during No Man's Land, she ruled over Robinson Park in what was left of downtown Gotham. Despite her toxins and chlorophyll, Pam is more human than the Joker or the Scarecrow, because the thriving force within her is compassion. She momentarily takes back control over her body from the goddess Eris to show Batman that she didn't put on some new battle armour because she wanted be a trendsetter in Gotham.

Entertainment arrives in the form of Wonder Woman, as she comes upon the mischevious gods. Several speeches between each side ensue, creating the sense of a noble conflict, whereas Batman's plan was to swoop in and bust some major holier-than-thou tail.

If a war between immortals doesn't excite you, maybe the Adam Hughes cover will. Staring into those big, gorgeous eyes of hers, I know that certainly didn't dissuade me from supporting this issue.
