Plot: After hearing what happened to the commissioner, Cassandra tries to locate her teammates and the suspect in an effort to deliver justice.

When you're the new girl in Gotham, there are times when it seems like you're the last person to know. That's what happens to Batgirl, when she happens to stop by outside an apartment to overhear the news.

This isn't an essential part of the Officer Down event, but it does serve to illustrate Cassie's thought processes - how she reacts to the grave report, moving from crime scene to Batcave to Babs' place, without a Batmobile, a Chameleon, or a Redboard. Batgirl doesn't have any of those luxuries, so she gets inventive. I mean, costumed vigilantes these days can't just walk up to a transit official and pay money to ride the subway.

She's also clearly affected by Gordon's shooting. Remember, shortly after her arrival in No Man's Land, her first act of heroism was saving Jim's life from her own sharpshooting father. Once she scans a police file on Catwoman, Cassie becomes frustrated by the facts on those pages, which mean nothing to someone who's dying in a hospital.

I was hoping that Kelley Puckett wrote this issue, so that I could gauge whether or not I should add Batgirl to my pull list again. Instead, we're served up a questing story from Chuck Dixon, who reveals how nimble and creative Cassandra can be.
