In 1994, I was watching the Academy Of Country Music Awards, and waited anxiously for the Top New Female Vocalist category to come around, thrilled that Canadian Lisa Brokop was nominated in that category. When they announced the winner, Chely Wright, I thought, "Who's that girl?!? Well, if she can beat Lisa Brokop, she's gotta be good!"

I set out to look for Chely's The Woman In The Moon album the next day, heard that country twang, and since then, she's released Right In The Middle Of It, Let Me In, and Single White Female, and you won't hear a note of disappointment from me.
